GOMBE APPROVES ₦16BN ROADS, ₦1.4BN SOLAR STREET LIGHTS
The Gombe State Executive Council has approved ₦16 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of township roads in Billiri and Kaltungo Local Government Areas as part of efforts to improve transportation and boost economic activities.
The council also approved ₦1.4 billion for the installation of solar-powered street lights across selected areas of the state.
The road projects are expected to improve connectivity between communities, ease transportation, and support the movement of people and agricultural produce within the affected areas.
The government said the investment in roads is part of its broader infrastructure development programme aimed at opening up communities and creating an environment conducive to commerce and economic growth.
The solar street-light project, meanwhile, is expected to improve visibility at night, enhance public safety, and provide more reliable lighting without placing additional pressure on the conventional electricity supply.
The state government said the projects demonstrate its commitment to improving basic infrastructure and extending development beyond the state capital to other parts of Gombe.
Officials assured residents that the projects would be implemented in accordance with approved standards, while urging communities to support and protect government infrastructure.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to delivering projects that have a direct impact on residents and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of Gombe State.
