FUBARA BIGGEST LOSER IN RIVERS CRISIS — WIKE

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the biggest loser in the prolonged political crisis that has rocked the state.
Wike said the conflict has had significant political consequences for Fubara, claiming the governor’s chances of securing a second term have been weakened by the crisis and the divisions it created within the state’s political structure.
According to the former Rivers governor, the dispute could have been avoided if political agreements had been respected and dialogue embraced from the outset.
Wike maintained that reconciliation remains the best path forward, stressing that political disagreements should never be allowed to undermine governance or the development of Rivers State.
He also said the ongoing efforts to restore peace were aimed at ensuring stability and creating an environment where government can focus on delivering projects and improving the welfare of residents.
The minister urged political stakeholders in the state to put aside personal differences, embrace unity, and work together in the interest of peace and sustainable development.
The remarks come as political realignments and reconciliation efforts continue ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders expressing hope for lasting stability in Rivers State.
