FG ORDERS CCTV INSTALLATION ON FIRST NIGER BRIDGE

The Federal Government has ordered the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the First Niger Bridge as part of measures to strengthen security and improve monitoring on the major transport route.
The directive is aimed at enhancing surveillance around the bridge, helping authorities monitor activities and respond more quickly to security or traffic-related incidents.
The First Niger Bridge is a major link between Anambra and Delta states and serves thousands of motorists travelling between the South-East and other parts of the country.
The government said improved surveillance would support efforts to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the safety of commuters using the bridge.
Relevant agencies are expected to work on the installation and operationalisation of the CCTV system as part of broader measures to secure important federal infrastructure.
The move comes amid increasing concerns over security and traffic management on major highways and bridges across the country.
Authorities are also expected to use the surveillance system to assist with monitoring incidents and improving response when necessary.
