(CAN) has called on Nigerian leaders to provide good governance and move beyond promises as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Maulud.
CAN said Nigerians are increasingly tired of promises that do not translate into meaningful improvements in their daily lives, particularly amid rising living costs, insecurity and other economic challenges.
The association urged political leaders at all levels to focus on policies and actions that improve the welfare and security of citizens.
CAN also encouraged Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Maulud celebration as an opportunity to promote peace, tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines.
The association said the teachings associated with the life of Prophet Muhammad emphasise compassion, justice, humility and concern for others, values it urged Nigerians to embrace.
CAN called on government officials to demonstrate greater accountability and ensure that public resources are used to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.
The association also appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting peaceful coexistence and reject actions capable of deepening religious or political divisions.
As Muslims mark the occasion, CAN extended its goodwill to the Muslim community and called for prayers for peace, security and progress in Nigeria.
