President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the release of ₦10 billion for Nigeria’s emergency response efforts amid growing concerns over the spread of Ebola.
The funding is expected to strengthen surveillance, border screening, disease detection, emergency preparedness, and rapid response measures aimed at preventing the virus from gaining a foothold in the country.
The President also approved the establishment of a high-level emergency task force to coordinate national efforts and ensure swift action against any potential outbreak.
Health authorities have intensified monitoring at airports, seaports, and land borders, while medical personnel and response teams have been placed on heightened alert across the country.
Government officials say the intervention is part of proactive measures to protect public health, contain risks, and prevent a repeat of previous Ebola-related emergencies.
The development comes as health experts continue to urge Nigerians to remain vigilant, observe proper hygiene practices, and promptly report suspected symptoms to health authorities.
