MY SALARY IS ₦503,000, PERMANENT SECRETARIES EARN ₦900,000 — DELTA GOV

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has revealed that his monthly salary is ₦503,000, which he said is lower than the ₦900,000 earned by permanent secretaries in the state.
The governor made the disclosure while highlighting his administration’s efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants and ensure that government workers are adequately motivated.
Oborevwori said the figures demonstrate that political office holders do not necessarily earn more than career civil servants, particularly at the senior administrative level.
He stressed the importance of improving workers’ welfare, noting that civil servants play a critical role in the implementation of government policies and the delivery of public services.
According to the governor, better remuneration and improved working conditions are necessary to motivate workers and enhance productivity across the state’s public service.
He also highlighted measures being taken by his administration to support civil servants and improve the efficiency of the state’s workforce.
The disclosure has generated reactions, particularly over the disparity between the salaries of political office holders and senior career civil servants.
Oborevwori maintained that his administration would continue to prioritise workers’ welfare while ensuring responsible management of public resources.
