DIKKO REJECTS CALLS FOR NBBF BOARD RESIGNATION
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has rejected calls for the resignation of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) board following D’Tigress’ disappointing performance at the World Cup.
Dikko said the NBBF board should not be removed based solely on the team’s performance, stressing that any decision concerning the federation must follow due process.
The calls for the board’s resignation followed criticism of D’Tigress’ showing at the tournament, with some stakeholders demanding changes in the administration of Nigerian basketball.
However, Dikko maintained that the appropriate procedures must be followed in addressing concerns about the federation and its leadership.
He said the NSC would continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to address issues affecting the development of basketball in Nigeria.
The position means the NBBF board will remain in place for now, as discussions over the team’s performance and the future of Nigerian basketball continue.
