The South-West leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has thrown its weight behind the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, dismissing a petition seeking his removal as baseless and without merit.
In a statement, the regional leadership said Aregbesola continues to enjoy the confidence and support of the party’s leadership and members across the South-West, describing the petition as the handiwork of individuals pursuing personal interests.
The party maintained that there is no constitutional basis for the demand to remove the former Osun State governor from his position, insisting that due process must be followed in all party affairs.
According to the South-West ADC, Aregbesola has remained committed to strengthening the party’s structures and promoting internal democracy since assuming office as National Secretary.
The leadership urged members to disregard the petition and remain focused on building a united and stronger party ahead of future political activities and elections.
It also called on party faithful to avoid actions capable of creating division, stressing that unity and discipline are essential to achieving the ADC’s political objectives.
The South-West leadership reaffirmed its confidence in Aregbesola’s leadership and pledged continued support for efforts aimed at repositioning the party for greater success nationwide.
