Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has signed a series of executive orders aimed at tackling political thuggery, illegal mining, and drug abuse as part of efforts to improve security and promote sustainable development across the state.
The governor said the measures are designed to curb criminal activities, protect lives and property, and create a safer environment for residents and investors.
According to Kefas, political thuggery and illegal mining have contributed to insecurity, economic losses, and environmental degradation, making decisive government action necessary.
He noted that the executive orders will strengthen law enforcement, improve regulation of mining activities, and ensure that individuals involved in unlawful acts are brought to justice.
The governor also pledged to intensify the fight against drug abuse, describing it as a major factor driving crime and youth violence in the state.
Kefas called on traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, and residents to support the government’s efforts by reporting criminal activities and promoting peaceful coexistence.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, strengthening the rule of law, and implementing policies that will foster economic growth and improve the quality of life for the people of Taraba State.
