FG DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY FOR FOOD SECURITY FUNDS — SHETTIMA

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for greater accountability in the implementation of Nigeria’s food security interventions.
Shettima said government resources allocated to tackling food insecurity must translate into tangible benefits for Nigerians, particularly vulnerable households and farmers.
The Vice President stressed the need for transparency in the management of funds and programmes designed to improve food production, reduce hunger and strengthen the country’s food supply.
He urged government agencies and other stakeholders involved in food security initiatives to ensure that interventions reach their intended beneficiaries and produce measurable results.
Shettima also emphasised the importance of supporting farmers, improving agricultural productivity and strengthening the systems needed to move food from farms to consumers.
According to him, addressing food insecurity requires coordinated action, responsible use of public resources and effective monitoring of government programmes.
The call comes amid concerns over rising food prices and the cost-of-living pressures facing many Nigerian households.
Shettima maintained that government interventions must be properly implemented and monitored to ensure that Nigerians feel their impact.
