LEADERSHIP IS NOT MEANT FOR NICE MEN’ — SHETTIMA
Vice President Kashim Shettima has said effective leadership requires courage, resilience, and the willingness to make difficult decisions, stressing that leadership is “not meant for nice men.”
Speaking at a public event, Shettima noted that leaders are often confronted with complex challenges that demand firm and sometimes unpopular decisions in the interest of the greater good.
According to the Vice President, the responsibility of leadership goes beyond seeking public approval, requiring vision, discipline, and the courage to pursue policies that promote long-term national development.
He said history has shown that transformative leaders are those who are prepared to take bold decisions, even when such actions attract criticism or temporary discomfort.
Shettima maintained that genuine leadership is measured by results, integrity, and commitment to serving the people rather than by the desire to please everyone.
He also urged public office holders to remain focused on delivering good governance, strengthening institutions, and implementing reforms that will improve the lives of Nigerians.
The Vice President reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to sustaining its reform agenda, expressing confidence that the difficult decisions being taken today would yield lasting benefits for the country.
