A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki has reportedly granted former President Goodluck Jonathan a waiver and cleared him to contest as a presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, the waiver was approved to enable Jonathan fully participate in the party’s presidential process despite internal party regulations and political considerations.
The Turaki-led faction described the former president as a credible national figure with the experience and leadership qualities needed to lead the country again.
Political observers say the development could significantly reshape conversations surrounding the 2027 presidential race and ongoing political realignments within the opposition.
