A public affairs commentator, Owokoniran, has called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritise measurable governance outcomes over policy explanations, stressing that Nigerians are increasingly demanding tangible improvements in their living conditions.

In a statement addressing current national challenges, he argued that concerns about governance have persisted due to what he described as long-standing issues of weak institutional accountability and ineffective management. According to him, while recent acknowledgements by government officials may signal awareness of the problems, citizens expect bold and decisive actions that produce visible results.

Owokoniran noted that with decades of political experience and influence, the expectations placed on the President are both reasonable and urgent. He maintained that leadership should be defined by the capacity to confront systemic inefficiencies, enforce discipline within public institutions and implement time-bound reforms capable of improving economic and social conditions.

He also criticised what he termed the continued reliance on narratives of inherited challenges, stating that such explanations no longer resonate with many Nigerians facing rising costs of living and limited opportunities.

The commentator urged the administration to adopt strategic and uncompromising approaches to governance, emphasising that sustained performance and accountability are essential for restoring public confidence.

Observers say the remarks reflect broader public discourse on leadership effectiveness and the need for practical solutions to pressing national issues.
