Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued a stern warning to members of the State Executive Council, cautioning them against leaking confidential government information and engaging in actions that could create division within the administration.

The governor expressed concern over what he described as growing internal rivalry and the unauthorised disclosure of sensitive policy discussions, stressing that such conduct could undermine the government’s programmes and erode public confidence.

Speaking during a recent cabinet meeting, Yusuf emphasised the need for unity, discipline and collective responsibility among top government officials. He reminded commissioners and other political appointees that they were entrusted with sensitive information meant to support effective governance and not for personal or political advantage.

According to him, his administration remains focused on delivering key development initiatives across critical sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education and economic empowerment. He noted that internal conflicts and information leaks could distract from these priorities and weaken the government’s ability to meet the expectations of the people.

The governor further warned that any official found culpable of undermining the administration’s objectives would face appropriate sanctions in line with established rules and ethical standards. He urged cabinet members to strengthen cooperation and maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Yusuf also reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that while constructive criticism is welcome, it must be channelled through proper institutional processes rather than through public leaks.

Observers say the governor’s warning reflects ongoing efforts by the state leadership to maintain cohesion within the executive arm and ensure smooth implementation of policies aimed at improving governance and service delivery in Kano State.
