No Aso Rock Kitchen Staff Attempted To Poison Tinubu — Presidency
The Presidency has dismissed viral social media reports alleging that kitchen staff at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa were arrested over an alleged plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the claim in a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday. He described the report as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.
The viral video circulating online claimed that a presidential chef had been arrested following intelligence reports suggesting suspicious food preparation activities within restricted areas of the Villa. It further alleged that a special police squad had intervened and that security measures had been heightened around the presidential environment.
According to the narration in the video, authorities acted on “credible reports” pointing to a possible threat to the safety of the President, prompting a coordinated investigation by specialised security personnel.
However, the Presidency categorically denied the allegations, stating that no such incident occurred and that no kitchen staff were arrested in connection with any poisoning plot.
Officials warned against the spread of unverified and sensational claims capable of causing unnecessary panic and misinformation, especially regarding matters of national security.
The Presidency reiterated that the security and welfare of the President remain a top priority and advised the public to rely only on credible and official sources for information.
