The Oyo State Government has approved the release of N900 million as counterpart funding for the construction and rehabilitation of 68 kilometres of road projects across various parts of the state, as part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve economic activities.

The approval, according to government officials, is aimed at accelerating ongoing road interventions under collaborative infrastructure programmes designed to enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and boost commercial activities within urban and rural communities.

Authorities explained that the counterpart funding will support strategic road corridors considered critical to agriculture, trade, and social development. The projects are also expected to improve access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities while easing transportation challenges faced by residents.

Officials noted that the administration remains committed to expanding road networks and ensuring that infrastructure development keeps pace with population growth and economic demands. They added that the release of funds signals the stateโ€™s readiness to meet its financial obligations under joint development arrangements.

Stakeholders in the construction and transport sectors have welcomed the move, expressing optimism that improved road infrastructure will stimulate investment opportunities and reduce logistics costs across the state.

The government further assured residents that contractors handling the projects would be closely monitored to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
