We Are Still Waiting’ – Iwobi Hopes Super Eagles Feature in 2026 World Cup
Alex Iwobi has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s Super Eagles can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite the team’s shaky position in the qualification race.
Speaking on the uncertainty surrounding Nigeria’s campaign, the midfielder said the players have not given up and remain focused on finishing strongly in the remaining fixtures. According to him, qualification is still possible if the team maintains belief and delivers consistent performances.
“We are still waiting and still hopeful,” Iwobi said, stressing that the Super Eagles are determined to fight until the final whistle of the qualifiers.
Nigeria’s World Cup hopes have been dented by mixed results in the early rounds, but players and officials insist the team will push hard to secure one of the available tickets for the expanded 2026 tournament, to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
