Former Kano State governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has strongly condemned the recent killings in parts of Kwara State, describing the attacks as barbaric and unacceptable.

Kwankwaso specifically referenced the deadly incidents in Woro and Nuku, where scores of residents were reportedly killed by armed assailants, with homes and properties destroyed.

In a statement shared on his official social media platforms, the former governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the families of the victims and affected communities.

“The senseless killings in Woro and Nuku communities of Kwara State are deeply disturbing and condemnable,” Kwankwaso said. “No society should normalise such acts of violence against innocent citizens.”

He warned that the continued wave of attacks across the country reflects a worsening security situation, urging the Federal Government and security agencies to take urgent and decisive action to stem the tide of insecurity.

Kwankwaso stressed that protecting lives and property remains the primary responsibility of any government, adding that repeated attacks on rural communities show the urgent need for intelligence-driven security operations and improved community policing.

He also called on authorities to ensure that those responsible for the Kwara killings are swiftly identified, arrested, and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

The former senator further urged state governments to work closely with federal security agencies and local vigilante groups to strengthen security at the grassroots, particularly in vulnerable rural areas.

The Kwara killings have sparked nationwide outrage, with civil society groups and political leaders calling for accountability and stronger measures to address Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.

Kwankwaso concluded by reaffirming his solidarity with the people of Kwara State, urging unity and collective action to confront insecurity and restore peace across the country.
