The Presidency has dismissed reports suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a trip to the United States for a meeting with American Vice President, J.D. Vance, on Tuesday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, described the report as “false and misleading,” adding that the President has no such engagement scheduled in the US.

Ajayi clarified that President Tinubu’s itinerary remains focused on domestic engagements aimed at advancing key policy reforms and strengthening economic recovery efforts.

He further urged media outlets and the public to verify information from official channels before dissemination, stressing that fake reports about the President’s travel plans could mislead Nigerians and undermine the credibility of journalism.

“The President has no scheduled trip to the United States this week or any meeting with Vice President J.D. Vance,” Ajayi stated. “Nigerians should disregard the false claims circulating online.”

The clarification comes amid growing speculation on social media about an alleged high-level diplomatic meeting between both leaders.
