Minister of Aviation and Space Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri on his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling it a major victory for the ruling party in the South-South zone.
Keyamo described Diri’s move as “historic and strategic,” adding that it cements APC’s growing influence across the Niger Delta. He noted that the governor’s decision reflects a broader realignment of political forces ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The defection of Governor Diri completes the circle of APC’s consolidation in the South-South. It’s a clear message that our party is now the dominant political force in the region,” Keyamo said in a statement on Monday.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for what he termed his “inclusive leadership style” that continues to attract opposition figures to the APC fold.
