Troops Eliminate Three Terrorist Kingpins in Sokoto Ambush

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have killed three notorious terrorist leaders in a successful ambush in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operation, which took place on Thursday, July 25, between Mallamawa and Mazau villages in the Tsamaye/Mai Lalle axis, was disclosed by counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama via a post on X.

The eliminated terrorist commanders were identified as Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar. During the operation, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles with magazines and a motorcycle.

Security sources revealed that the terrorists were ambushed while attempting to collect ransom and illegal levies from residents. The successful mission sparked widespread relief and celebrations in communities across Sabon Birni and Goronyo LGAs, including Mai Lalle, Tsamaye, and Rimaye.

“These terrorists have long terrorized the area with killings, kidnappings, and extortion. Their elimination is a significant morale booster,” a security source stated.

The military affirmed its commitment to sustaining both kinetic and non-kinetic operations in the region, in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes. Citizens are urged to provide timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing efforts to eradicate criminal elements.
