Insecurity: Military Operation Rescues Kidnap Victims, Arrest Suspects In Taraba

Amid prevalence insecurity, troops of the 6 Brigade Garrison of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended two kidnappers in Taraba state.

Kidnapped victims were also announced to have been rescued by the army on anti-kidnapping patrol in the state.

 

The victims, as stated in a release on Monday made available to media men in Jalingo, the state capital by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Frank Etim, were nabbed at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) area in Jalingo, the state capital.

The operation that led to the success was said to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023, following credible information about terrorist activities in the state metropolis following an intelligence report.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops conducted a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the capture of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32, and Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33.” He said.

 

Adding that “the rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar, were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors.”

 

During the operation, two kidnappers, as made known by him, were arrested, while others managed to escape upon sighting the advancing troops, stating that “efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals.

While one of the rescued victims was said to have been “joyously reunited with his family,” the other, according to Etim, “is currently receiving necessary medical attention and support to ensure her physical and emotional well-being before being reunited with her family.”

 

Commending the troops for their timely response, Etim urged them not to relent in ensuring the peace and safety of citizens.

 

He also called on the public to continue cooperating with and supporting security agencies by providing timely information to enhance the troops’ prompt response to security issues.

 

He urged the state’s people to disseminate this information through their respective mediums to raise awareness about the success of the military operation in Jalingo
