The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has called for urgent action to secure the rescue of teachers and students abducted during the recent attack in Oyo State.
The union expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation affecting schools and educational communities, describing the incident as traumatic and disturbing.
According to the NUT, the abduction has caused severe psychological distress among teachers, students, parents and education workers across the state.
The union urged security agencies and government authorities to intensify rescue operations and ensure the safe return of all victims still in captivity.
NUT officials also stressed the need for stronger protection around schools and vulnerable communities to prevent future attacks on educational institutions.
The incident has continued to generate nationwide outrage, with many Nigerians demanding urgent measures to address insecurity and protect schoolchildren.
Education stakeholders warned that repeated attacks on schools could further disrupt learning and create fear among students and teachers.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the safety, welfare and protection of education workers and students nationwide.
Calls for improved intelligence gathering, community policing and increased security presence around schools have also intensified following the attack.
