Wema Bank has celebrated outstanding Nigerian teachers with ₦4.5 million worth of prizes in its 2025 Wema @ 80 Teachers’ Day Campaign, held at the bank’s headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

The event, themed “Celebrating Teachers with a Legacy of Impact,” honoured educators whose efforts have shaped generations of students. Wema Bank’s MD/CEO, Moruf Oseni, described teachers as “unsung heroes” whose dedication builds strong nations.

He said, “We are honoured to celebrate educators who have impacted lives and communities. This initiative reflects our 80-year commitment to empowering people and driving positive change.”

The top three winners were Abraham Ngobiri, founder of Teens-Train (₦2m); Esther Adesada, founder of Heritage X Foundation (₦1.5m); and Taiwo Alabi, founder of Educycle (₦1m).

Ngobiri said the recognition “makes teachers feel seen and valued,” while Adesada called it “a huge motivation in a year of self-doubt.” Alabi added that the award “inspires every teacher striving to shape the next generation.”

The campaign, launched in September 2025, invited students and alumni to post 80-second videos celebrating memorable teachers. Ten finalists were shortlisted, with three emerging winners after a rigorous judging process.
