The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular TikTok personality Habeeb Hamza, widely known as Peller, over a viral video showing him driving recklessly while livestreaming, an action that reportedly resulted in a crash.

The command confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, following widespread public outcry over the incident, which occurred on December 14, 2025.

According to the police, the video showed the suspect engaging in dangerous driving behaviour while interacting with his online audience, an act described as “suicidal” and capable of endangering other road users.

“The conduct posed a serious threat to public safety and could have led to loss of lives and property,” the statement said, noting that the police were compelled to act swiftly in response to the incident.

The police added that Peller is currently in custody while investigations continue, after which he will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

The command also warned social media influencers and content creators against prioritising online engagement over public safety, stressing that reckless stunts carried out for views will not be tolerated.
