The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary and tertiary schools across the state, citing rising security concerns and the urgent need to safeguard students and staff.
In a circular issued on Monday, the government directed all academic institutions—public and private—to suspend activities indefinitely. Authorities said the decision followed intelligence reports indicating potential threats that could endanger school environments.
Parents and guardians have been urged to retrieve their children and wards without delay, while security agencies have been placed on heightened alert to monitor vulnerable areas. The government noted that academic activities will resume only when safety is fully guaranteed.
Officials added that while the measure may disrupt the academic calendar, protecting lives remains the utmost priority. Further updates are expected as security assessments continue.
