A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied reports of any political alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), distancing itself from a recent gathering held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement issued by party loyalists, the group described reports linking the PDP faction to the political meeting as false and misleading.
According to the faction, the Ibadan gathering was not organised or endorsed by the Wike-backed PDP structure, insisting that individuals behind the event acted independently without official authorisation.
The group also rejected speculations suggesting that discussions were ongoing between the PDP faction and the APM ahead of future political contests.
Party representatives stressed that the PDP remains focused on internal consultations, reconciliation and strengthening its structure rather than entering into unofficial political alliances.
The clarification comes amid growing political realignments and coalition talks across different parties as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually intensify.
Political observers say rumours surrounding alliances and cross-party negotiations have continued to increase due to ongoing tensions and divisions within major political parties.
Supporters of the Wike camp insist that any official political decisions or alliances would be communicated through recognised party channels.
The development has further highlighted the internal complexities within the PDP as different blocs continue strategic consultations ahead of future elections.
