The Niger State Government has successfully completed the transportation of all 2,281 intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
Officials overseeing the exercise confirmed that the final batch of pilgrims departed safely, marking the successful conclusion of the airlift operation organised for this yearโ€™s pilgrimage.
The state government and the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board described the process as smooth and well-coordinated, with arrangements put in place to ensure the comfort and safety of the pilgrims.
Authorities also expressed appreciation to airline operators, security agencies and officials involved in the coordination of the transportation exercise.
Pilgrims were advised to conduct themselves responsibly and focus on the spiritual purpose of the Hajj while representing Niger State and Nigeria positively in the Holy Land.
Religious leaders accompanying the pilgrims also encouraged them to pray for peace, unity and national development during the pilgrimage.
The successful transportation exercise comes amid ongoing preparations by Nigerian authorities to ensure proper welfare, accommodation and medical support for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage attracts millions of Muslims from around the world to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
Officials said monitoring and support services for pilgrims from Niger State would continue throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia until their eventual return after the pilgrimage rites.
