The Deeper Christian Life Ministry has dismissed a viral report claiming its General Superintendent, Pastor William Kumuyi, accused the United States of plotting to steal Nigeria’s resources and denying the existence of Christian genocide in the country.

The report, which originated from an online platform, Ibom Focus, alleged that Kumuyi made the statement during a press briefing in Lagos. However, in a statement posted on the cleric’s official X account on Monday, the church described the publication as “malicious and entirely false.”

According to the ministry, Pastor Kumuyi “has not been in Nigeria for a considerable length of time,” noting that he is currently on a missionary tour across the Oceania region and the Far East.

It further emphasized that the Deeper Life leader is solely devoted to preaching the gospel and does not engage in political commentary. The church also warned against attempts to drag Kumuyi into political controversies, threatening legal action against any future fabrications.

The clarification follows heightened tension over recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians — a statement that has divided public opinion across the country.
