Schools in Lagos State have introduced an interactive Yoruba-themed board game as part of efforts to promote indigenous language learning and cultural awareness among primary school pupils.
The initiative is designed to make Yoruba language education more engaging through play-based learning, allowing children to learn vocabulary, expressions and cultural concepts in a fun and interactive way.
Education stakeholders involved in the programme said the board game combines entertainment with learning to encourage stronger interest in Yoruba language and heritage among young learners.
According to organisers, the initiative also aims to address concerns over the declining use of indigenous languages among children in urban communities.
Teachers and education experts praised the project, noting that interactive learning methods can improve student participation, retention and overall understanding.
The Lagos State Government has continued to support educational innovations and cultural preservation initiatives within schools across the state.
Parents and cultural advocates also welcomed the development, describing it as a creative approach to preserving Yoruba identity and traditions for future generations.
Analysts say incorporating local languages and cultural elements into modern teaching methods could strengthen cultural pride and improve learning experiences for students.
The programme is expected to be introduced in selected primary schools before possible expansion to other educational institutions across the state.
