A fresh political disagreement has emerged between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and some APC governors over the activities of the Rainbow Coalition, a political group formed to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The disagreement centres on the coalition’s activities and its role in the wider political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and prominent political figure, has continued to play an active role in national politics despite his position in the federal government.
Some APC governors are reportedly uncomfortable with aspects of the coalition’s activities, amid efforts within the party to strengthen its structure and coordinate its mobilisation ahead of the election.
The development has added to ongoing political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, with various groups and political actors positioning themselves in support of President Tinubu and the APC.
Further discussions are expected as the parties and political groups continue preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
