STOP ABUSING ME, I’M NOT CONTESTING FOR GOV — MAKINDE TELLS ORIYOMI HAMZAT, OTHERS

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged popular broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat and other political aspirants to stop attacking him over the 2027 governorship race, clarifying that he will not be seeking another term as governor.
Makinde said he has no intention of contesting the 2027 governorship election and therefore should not be treated as a rival by those preparing to contest the election.
The governor’s comments followed recent political exchanges involving Hamzat and other individuals interested in the future leadership of Oyo State.
Makinde urged those nursing political ambitions to concentrate on developing their own programmes and presenting their plans to the people rather than spending their time attacking him.
He stressed that his administration remains focused on completing its programmes and projects before the end of his tenure.
The governor also maintained that political disagreements should not degenerate into personal attacks or abuse, urging all stakeholders to conduct their activities peacefully and respectfully.
Makinde’s declaration further clarifies the political situation ahead of the 2027 election, as attention increasingly shifts towards possible successors and the various interests seeking to control the state’s political structure.
He urged prospective candidates and their supporters to allow the people of Oyo State to assess their records, policies and plans before making their choice at the polls.
