The Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s lifestyle amid public criticism over the cost of governance and official spending.
Adedeji said President Tinubu leads a disciplined lifestyle and does not live extravagantly despite the responsibilities attached to his office.
According to the NRS boss, the President sometimes walks to his office rather than relying on official transportation, while also eating only once a day.
He made the comments while highlighting what he described as the President’s personal sacrifices and commitment to his duties.
Adedeji argued that public discussions about government expenditure should also take into account the President’s personal approach to his responsibilities, rather than assuming that every aspect of his lifestyle is extravagant.
The NRS chairman said Tinubu remains focused on implementing reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy and improving the country’s revenue system.
His comments come amid ongoing public debate over the cost of governance, government spending and the economic hardship facing many Nigerians.
Adedeji maintained that the President’s personal lifestyle should be separated from wider debates about government policies and public expenditure, while urging Nigerians to assess the administration based on its reforms and their long-term impact.
