The Oyo State Government has lifted the security curfew earlier imposed on 10 local government areas in the Oke-Ogun axis following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area.
The government had initially enforced a 16-hour curfew in the affected communities before extending it by an additional day as security agencies intensified efforts to restore order and rescue the abducted victims.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, residents were informed that normal activities can now resume across the affected local government areas.
The state government thanked residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout the period of the security restrictions.
Prince Oyelade assured the public that the government is closely monitoring the security situation and working with security agencies to ensure lasting peace in the area.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that efforts are ongoing to bring the kidnapping incident to a successful conclusion and strengthen security across the state.
The government also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing operations.
