The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved a ₦3.5 billion loan facility to support intending pilgrims from the state participating in the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The loan is aimed at enabling the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board to make the required initial deposit to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) within the stipulated deadline, thereby securing slots for the state’s pilgrims.
According to the state government, the approval is part of efforts to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj operation while giving intending pilgrims adequate time to complete their payments before the pilgrimage.
Officials explained that the facility will serve as a temporary financial intervention, with beneficiaries expected to repay the funds as they complete their Hajj fare payments.
The government said the initiative demonstrates its commitment to supporting Muslim faithful and ensuring that no eligible pilgrim from the state is disadvantaged due to administrative or financial delays.
It also assured residents that all procedures surrounding the loan and Hajj arrangements would be handled transparently and in accordance with established financial regulations.
The Executive Council reaffirmed its commitment to improving welfare programmes and delivering quality services, while urging intending pilgrims to comply with all registration requirements and payment schedules issued by the Pilgrims Welfare Board.
