Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to embrace national unity and support the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle the country’s economic and security challenges.

Fadahunsi made the appeal as Nigeria marked its 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2026, calling on citizens to put aside their differences and work together for national development.

The senator stressed that Nigeria’s progress depended on collective commitment, responsible citizenship and sustained efforts to address challenges affecting the country.

He also encouraged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, which the Federal Government says are aimed at addressing longstanding structural problems and strengthening the economy.

Fadahunsi acknowledged the economic and security difficulties facing the country, including rising living costs, unemployment and insecurity. He called for continued efforts to improve citizens’ welfare and strengthen national security.

The lawmaker further urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies and promote peaceful coexistence, noting that tackling insecurity required collective responsibility.

He encouraged citizens to reflect on the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and renew their commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and united nation.

His Independence Day message comes amid ongoing national discussions about the impact of the Tinubu administration’s reforms and the measures needed to improve Nigeria’s economic conditions and security.
