ANAMBRA GOVT TELLS VOTERS TO REJECT PETER OBI IN 2027
The Anambra State Government has urged voters in the state to reject Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in the 2027 general election.
The state government made the call while accusing the former Anambra governor of undermining the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the political platform under which he served as governor.
In a statement directed at APGA supporters, the government alleged that Obi had turned against the party after leaving it and urged the electorate to resist his political influence ahead of the 2027 election.
The government’s position has added another layer to the political debate surrounding Obi and APGA, particularly in Anambra, where the party has maintained a strong political presence over the years.
Obi served as Anambra governor from 2006 to 2013 and later joined the Labour Party, under which he contested the 2023 presidential election. He has since moved to the NDC ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The state government’s call is expected to generate further political reactions as parties and candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
