The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Eric Opah, has dismissed speculation that he is planning to form an alliance with any other political candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Opah insisted that he was not negotiating or working towards any political alliance, maintaining that he was confident of winning the election through his party’s platform.

The APC candidate also declared his determination to take over the Abia State Government House in 2027, expressing confidence in his political ambition and the programmes he intends to implement if elected.

He said his campaign would focus on presenting his plans for the development of the state and convincing residents that his party offers a credible alternative.

His remarks come amid growing political activities and consultations among parties and political figures ahead of the next governorship election.

Political alliances are often considered an important strategy in competitive elections, particularly where opposition parties seek to consolidate their support. However, Opah’s position suggests that he intends to pursue his governorship ambition independently under the APC.

The 2027 election is expected to be a major political contest in Abia State, with parties seeking to convince voters through their candidates, policies and campaign promises.
