The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists against using social media while driving, saying the distraction can contribute to road crashes.
The warning highlights the dangers of activities such as checking notifications, reading messages, recording videos and browsing social media platforms behind the wheel.
The FRSC boss stressed that drivers need to maintain full concentration on the road to avoid accidents and protect other road users.
Distractions can delay a driver’s reaction to sudden changes in traffic, pedestrians crossing the road or unexpected obstacles, increasing the risk of collisions.
Motorists were urged to keep their phones away while driving and pull over safely if they need to make calls, respond to messages or use social media.
The FRSC continues to encourage responsible driving and compliance with road safety regulations to reduce crashes and save lives across the country.
