FG UNVEILS 581KWP SOLAR MINI-GRID IN KWARA

The Federal Government has inaugurated a 581kWp interconnected solar mini-grid in Oke-Oyi, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, as part of efforts to expand access to reliable electricity.

The project is expected to provide improved electricity supply to about 13,000 residents and support households, businesses and other economic activities within the community.

The solar mini-grid is part of the government’s broader efforts to increase renewable energy generation and extend electricity access to communities that have faced challenges with conventional power supply.

Officials at the inauguration said the project would help reduce dependence on traditional energy sources while providing a cleaner and more sustainable source of electricity.

The initiative is also expected to support local businesses, improve productivity and create opportunities for residents who rely on electricity for their livelihoods.

The Federal Government said it would continue to explore renewable energy solutions, including solar mini-grids, as part of efforts to close the country’s electricity access gap.
