UMAHI TO INSPECT BENIN–ASABA ROAD OVER WORSE GRIDLOCK

Minister of Works David Umahi is set to inspect the Benin–Asaba Road following growing concerns over worsening traffic gridlock and the deteriorating condition of the major highway.
The inspection is expected to provide an opportunity for the Federal Government to assess the current situation and determine urgent measures needed to ease movement along the busy corridor.
The Benin–Asaba Road is a major route connecting communities and businesses across Edo and Delta states and serves as an important link for the movement of people and goods.
Motorists have continued to experience delays and difficult driving conditions along parts of the route, with the worsening situation raising concerns among commuters and residents.
Umahi is expected to meet with relevant officials and contractors during the inspection and review ongoing or proposed interventions aimed at restoring smoother traffic flow.
The Federal Government has continued to prioritise major road projects as part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and reduce the economic impact of poor road conditions.
The minister’s inspection is expected to lead to further decisions on repairs, construction activities and traffic management measures along the corridor.
