Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that he has lived in his current home for 36 years, saying he prefers investing in productive businesses rather than spending heavily on luxury.

Dangote made the disclosure while criticising wealthy Africans who prioritise buying private jets and other expensive possessions over investing in factories and businesses that can create jobs and contribute to economic growth.

According to him, wealth should be used to build sustainable businesses and create opportunities rather than simply fund an extravagant lifestyle.

Dangote’s comments come as he continues to promote investment in Nigeria’s industrial sector, particularly through large-scale manufacturing projects.

He said his long-term approach to wealth and business has focused on building assets that generate economic value, rather than constantly upgrading his personal lifestyle.

The billionaire’s remarks have renewed discussion about wealth, investment and the responsibilities of Africa’s richest individuals in contributing to economic development.
