FRENCH PLAYER LEAVES CLUB AMÉRICA OVER RACIST ABUSE OF HIS CHILDREN

French winger Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed that he left Mexican club Club América after his children were subjected to racist abuse while attending school in Mexico.
Saint-Maximin said the experience affected his family and ultimately influenced his decision to leave the club.
The former Newcastle United player had joined Club América as part of his career in Mexico but decided to move on after concerns over the treatment of his children.
He said the welfare and safety of his family had to take priority, particularly after the alleged incidents at his children’s school.
The revelation has drawn attention to the impact of racism on footballers and their families, with Saint-Maximin’s decision highlighting how incidents away from the pitch can also affect players’ careers.
The French winger has since moved on from Club América, bringing his time at the Mexican club to an end.
