TINUBU WELCOMES NIGERIA’S MEMBERSHIP INTO WORLD ENERGY COUNCIL

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed Nigeria’s admission into the World Energy Council, describing it as a significant milestone that will strengthen the country’s influence in shaping global energy policies and reforms.
The President said the membership reflects growing international confidence in Nigeria’s energy sector and its commitment to driving sustainable energy development and investment.
According to Tinubu, joining the World Energy Council will provide Nigeria with greater opportunities to collaborate with global industry leaders, attract investment, and exchange knowledge on energy transition, innovation, and infrastructure development.
He noted that the development aligns with his administration’s efforts to reform the energy sector, improve electricity supply, expand access to clean energy, and maximise the country’s oil, gas, and renewable energy resources.
The President also emphasised that Nigeria’s participation in the global body will help advance policies that promote energy security, economic growth, environmental sustainability, and regional cooperation.
Tinubu commended stakeholders in the country’s energy industry for their contributions to achieving the milestone and urged them to continue supporting reforms aimed at transforming the sector.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment and innovation, expressing confidence that Nigeria’s membership of the World Energy Council will enhance the country’s position as a leading energy player in Africa and the global community.
