President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign is taking shape with new political calculations, alliances and campaign strategies emerging across the country.
In his latest commentary, Suleiman A. Suleiman examines the growing political activities surrounding Tinubu and the role of Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris in the President’s campaign efforts.
The political landscape ahead of the 2027 election is already changing, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) strengthening its structures and reaching out to influential political figures across different regions.
Governor Idris has attracted particular attention because of his political influence in the North-West and his background in organised labour, which supporters believe could be useful in mobilising workers and grassroots voters for Tinubu.
The campaign is also expected to focus heavily on presenting the administration’s economic reforms, infrastructure projects and other policies to voters.
However, the 2027 contest is unlikely to be straightforward, as opposition parties and political movements are also working to build alliances capable of challenging the APC.
Suleiman’s analysis comes at a time when political actors are already positioning themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive presidential election.
With campaign structures taking shape well ahead of the election, the coming months are likely to reveal more about Tinubu’s strategy, the strength of his alliances and the opposition’s ability to mount a serious challenge.
