2027 CAMPAIGNS WON’T DISRUPT N’ASSEMBLY DUTIES — AKPABIO

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections will not disrupt the legislative duties of the National Assembly.
Akpabio said lawmakers would continue to perform their constitutional responsibilities while participating in political activities leading up to the elections.
He stressed the importance of maintaining the business of the Senate and ensuring that legislative work continues despite the political activities expected to intensify as the election approaches.
The Senate President’s assurance comes amid growing political realignments and preparations by politicians and political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said members of the National Assembly would balance their political engagements with their responsibilities to their constituents and the country.
Akpabio also emphasised the need for lawmakers to remain committed to making laws and carrying out oversight functions in the interest of Nigerians.
With political parties already mobilising supporters and preparing campaign structures, concerns have emerged over whether election activities could affect government business.
Akpabio maintained that the National Assembly would remain focused on its legislative responsibilities throughout the political season.
