SANWO-OLU PAYS N3.1BN COMPENSATION TO 300 LAGOS PROPERTY OWNERS

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the payment of more than ₦3.1 billion as compensation to over 300 property owners whose lands were acquired by the state government for public infrastructure and development projects.
The compensation, presented through the Lagos State Lands Bureau, is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring that property owners affected by land acquisition are fairly and promptly compensated in accordance with the law.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to protecting the rights of residents while accelerating infrastructure development across the state. He said the payment demonstrates the government’s resolve to balance public interest with fairness and justice for affected citizens.
According to the governor, the compensation covers properties acquired for key projects aimed at improving road networks, transportation systems, urban renewal, and other essential public infrastructure designed to enhance the quality of life for Lagos residents.
Sanwo-Olu urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the compensation and assured property owners that the government would continue to uphold transparency and due process in all matters relating to land acquisition and compensation.
Officials of the Lagos State Lands Bureau noted that prompt payment of compensation helps reduce disputes, builds public confidence, and ensures the smooth execution of strategic development projects across the state.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to sustainable urban development while ensuring that residents whose properties are affected by government projects receive fair and lawful compensation.
