An aide to President Bola Tinubu has dismissed claims that there are plans to sideline opposition parties and ensure that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears on the ballot in the 2027 general elections.
The presidential aide described such allegations as unfounded, insisting that the administration remains committed to democratic principles, including political pluralism and a level playing field for all parties.
According to the aide, there is no agenda to suppress opposition or manipulate the electoral process, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy is strong enough to accommodate diverse political voices.
The clarification comes amid growing concerns and accusations from some opposition figures who have alleged attempts to weaken rival parties ahead of the next election cycle.
Observers say the response is part of ongoing political exchanges as parties position themselves and shape narratives in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
