Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has joined members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other supporters in a protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
The demonstration, which drew attention in the Federal Capital Territory, was organised to express concerns over alleged actions by INEC that opposition figures claim could undermine democratic processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
Protesters were seen carrying placards and chanting slogans, calling for transparency, fairness and equal treatment of all political parties by the electoral body.
Obi’s presence at the protest is being interpreted as a show of solidarity with opposition groups and a broader push for electoral reforms.
Participants urged INEC to uphold its constitutional responsibilities and ensure that future elections remain credible and inclusive.
Observers say the protest reflects rising political tension and growing scrutiny of electoral processes as Nigeria moves closer to the next general elections.
