The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised alarm that recent actions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could prevent the party from participating in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement, the party alleged that INEC’s refusal to acknowledge or accept its official correspondence may have serious implications, potentially stopping it from fielding candidates in future polls.
According to the ADC, compliance with electoral procedures requires timely communication with the commission, and any disruption in that process could unfairly disadvantage the party.
The party warned that such a situation, if not addressed, would undermine democratic participation and limit political competition ahead of the elections.
ADC officials called on INEC to act transparently and uphold its responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all registered political parties.
Observers say the development highlights growing tensions between opposition parties and the electoral body as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually intensify.
